Homeschool at it's best!

This is what we did today. We learned that goats do not have upper teeth in the front. They have hair, not wool. They like to climb. They chew their cud. Their pupils are rectangular shaped. They have 2 toed hooves. They are cute and actually fun to play with kind of like a dog. We tried to paint their hoof and get a print of their track but their nails were too long today so it didn’t work well. The goat really didn’t mind this believe it or not.
Hope you enjoy the pics :)

Sliced Bread

Since Lee has been out of town we have had to buy bread.  I feel like we have been required to go forge in the woods or something to find decent bread.  So today at the Whole Foods Market I found some 5 grain bread that I thought might be comparable to what my darling husband lovingly makes us and upon inspecting it Nathan says, “But Mom it’s cut already.”  Ha ha ha ha ha ha Ha ha ha ha ha!  If he only knew that pre-cut bread is what the majority of our country eats.  Some may say “This is the best thing since sliced bread”, but Nathan has proved it does in fact get better.  Nothing is better than homemade.  No wait, it has to be Lee’s homemade!  Period.  We are so spoiled.  I love you honey and miss you and your bread every single time you leave on a trip.  If only I was as good as you and could make the bread.  Oh life’s quandaries.  Isn’t life good.  :)

Eeee

This is too cute to pass by so here goes.  Lucas has been making the “E” sound when he wants to eat for several months now but it is definitely becoming much clearer and he is using it consistently appropriate now.  Even more than I thought apparently as today after supper he was in the great room and I was washing the dogs bowls  in the kitchen and he kept saying, “Eeee.”  Well I thought maybe he hears the dogs’ bowls and knows that they eat out of those and they were in fact hungry and awaiting their food.  After several minutes of him eeeing I peeked in to see what he was up to and he was standing at the storm door watching the dogs.  The prize however was in his mouth; dog food.  He was “eeeing” the dog food and was even telling me he was doing it.  Apparently I was the one too slow to catch on this time.

Exploring

Yesterday Lucas realized he could reach onto the table and pull things off.  This was after he already pulled the towel off of the oven door.  Nathan and I were eating supper when Lucas reached up to the table and held on with both little hands while standing there.  All you could see were his precious little fingers clinging on and it was just sooo adorable.  Nathan said, "Mommy look, Lucas is holding onto the table.  I've got to go get my camera to take his picture."

Well today he ventured over to the toilet paper and started unrolling that.  I'm actually ok with him pulling paper and such apart because it's helping him develop fine motor skills so I just watched as he ripped and pulled a bit.  Then he did the inevitable and put some to his mouth.  He didn't put it all the way in and in fact pulled it back quickly and started crying.  He did try it twice though before deciding to stop.  I guess it wasn't as good as some other paper he has tried

The Bible

Nathan has moved up to Kindergarten in Sabbath School and did quite well last week.  He was given a bible and his teacher asked him to bring it every week and he would be given a new bookmark.  A nice little incentive to get them use to the habit of bringing their bible to church.  I didn't even realize he was listening but apparently he was taking it all in because during church he couldn't find his bookmark and got very upset.  Mommy where did it go I need my bookmark.  Not that he even knew the purpose of a bookmark, but it meant a lot to him.  We did find it; it was in the bible after all.  That night, I read him his new lesson and he informed me I needed to read his bible too.  I enjoyed reading the first chapter of Genesis to him and he really enjoyed hearing about the beginning of time.  I wasn't sure where this would go but Sunday night he reminded me that it was time to read #2 in the bible.  We have read his bible every night now.  I am so thrilled and just pray that this excitement will continue and blossom into a beautiful love relationship with Christ.
