Today we went to Lake Conestee which is just the coolest place, partially because it is so close and partially because it's such a nice walk to do with kids and you get to see wildlife without a lot of work.
Lucas hiked for the first time and did a wonderful job, running at first then finally slowing down and at the end being put in the carrier. He loved it and it was great for Lee and I to watch them hike together. To my surprise we saw turtles sunning themselves on logs. I thought they would still be hibernating but I guess they knew it was in the high 50's today also.
Nathan thought this was awesome but Lucas wasn't able to see them. My favorite part however was finding some trees that beavers had chewed down. The largest of which was about 17 inches in diameter and you could see their teeth marks in the wood. There were shavings all around on the ground and the tree was still connected by a tiny bit of wood and was chewed to a point just like you see in books. This was so amazing to see up close and personal.
